The FIPJP Executive Committee held a videoconference today in conjunction with the Swiss Organising Committee and decided to postpone the Men’s World Championships from 16th to 19th July 2020 to 15th to 19th July 2021.

The Championships were due to take place at the superb new modern venue of La Vaudoise Arena in Prilly-Lausanne, but the constraints currently faced globally as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic meant that the ability for teams to travel and the availability of the venue itself could not be assured.

Christian Cosandey of the Organising Committee said that his team of volunteers were committed to making the Championships ‘even more beautiful’ in 2021.

This is the second major international Championship to fall victim to the pandemic, the Women’s World Championships scheduled for Spain in June had already been postponed until 29th October to 1st November by the CEP.

The implications for PE of the postponement of these Championships is yet to be discussed by PE’s Board, as the future of our domestic programme remains uncertain.

The PE Board would like to wish all our members a Happy Easter and hopes that everybody stays safe in these challenging times.
