24th April 2024

Fourteen teams competed at Oxshott PC in the Petanque England St Georges Adult Junior Tournament on Saturday 20.4.24. The teams were drawn into two leagues of four and one of six for the morning session with two going forward to the main from the four team leagues and four from the six team group.

The competition was intense and the quality of play excellent.  Some of the top adult players in PE supported the event and to see them interacting with their junior partners, discussing the next shot, how to achieve the best result, was excellent and what the competition is all about.  Whatever the result the youngsters learnt much and we are thankful to the adult partners for their input. Entries were received from Heart of England, Central, Great Western, Kent, Chiltern and Southern. The final included the holders of the title, Axel & Callum, but it was Axel’s Dad, David, that won this year with Matthew in a tight compelling match.

The facilities at Oxshott were excellent and the support from Ann and John and their members superb.  We were also grateful for the input of David Mason as Umpire though I am pleased to say he had little to do.

We will have junior teams in action at Worthing on the 5.5.24 and again at London 15.6.24.
