It is with regret that the Board of Pétanque England announces the resignation of Peter Aldersley.
Peter has worked tirelessly to help bring about positive change within our organisation. His contributions have been significant and wide-ranging, beginning with the review of Pétanque England’s insurance arrangements, followed by his work on the Articles of Association, and more recently his involvement in the appointment of ACF and the establishment of the Events Team.
On behalf of the Board, we would like to thank Peter for the considerable time, energy, and commitment he has devoted to Pétanque England and wish him well for the future.
We would also like to reassure members that the work undertaken by the Events Team will continue. Although much of their planning and development work has taken place behind the scenes, they have been working to build a strong and cohesive programme for the years ahead.
Our events are at the heart of what Pétanque England does, and the Board remains fully committed to delivering well-organised, sustainable, and enjoyable events for members. We recognise that achieving this takes time and that, with limited resources and a shortage of experience in some key areas at the start of this year, there have been challenges along the way. Nevertheless, important progress has been made, and work continues at pace.
In the absence of a Board member directly overseeing this area, arrangements are already in place to ensure continuity. Planning is progressing across the short, medium, and long term. John Edmondson is leading preparations for the 2026 Inter-Regional Championships, the Events Team is actively developing the 2027 calendar and identifying suitable venues, and ACF has been appointed to manage this year's Inter-Regional Championships.
The Board remains committed to supporting these initiatives and ensuring that members continue to benefit from a strong programme of events in the years ahead.
Further updates will be provided to members as plans develop.
