With Easter now behind us, many Regions will now be commencing their Inter Regional qualifying rounds, and we wish everyone good fortune in their endeavours.

As everyone will know by now, there has been a regrettable but unavoidable change in the dates of this year’s Inter Regional competition.  It is scheduled for the weekend of 5th/6th September and will again be held at Sand Bay Holiday Village.  During the winter, Sand Bay have been busily refurbishing a significant part of the public areas together with a couple of hundred chalets.

There is an increase of about 10% over last year’s prices.  Hospitality venues of all types are struggling to cope with significant increases in the cost of wages, of energy, and of food and drink; indeed, many have simply collapsed under those pressures.  We believe we’ve done well to limit the price increase to about 10%. 

The inclusive prices per person will be:                                 

The Junior/Child prices are based on sharing with two adults, and the Adult price on two adults sharing.  There will be discounts for three or four sharing.  More detail on pricing will follow from ACF shortly.  A limited amount of off-site accommodation will be available, if necessary, though we hope you’ll appreciate that our first priority must be to ‘sell through’ the 850 beds for which we’ve contracted at Sand Bay.

As well as the change of date, we have also chosen new partners to help us put on the event.  They are ACF Events who, coincidentally, are actually based south of Bristol and not far from Weston Super Mare. 

Building on the experience and knowledge we gained from last year’s enjoyable event, ACF Events will bring a different dimension to its organisation.  We have already been in close dialogue with them and with the general management of Sand Bay.  They will be reaching out to Regional contacts very shortly with a view to assessing your requirements for this year’s event.

Finally, John Edmondson will be writing to you separately regarding the format of this year’s events.  He mentioned the possibility of changing the divisional format after last year’s event, but of course a lot depends upon the number of teams entering the Championship and the Challenge.
