The 2026 Squad Selection Events (SSEs) have seen a significant surge in popularity, with entries arriving at an unprecedented speed and volume. Demand quickly exceeded expectations, resulting in the event reaching full capacity much earlier than anticipated.

To ensure fairness to those who had already completed their applications via Sport:80, entries were temporarily suspended while options were explored.

Following numerous requests from members to increase capacity, Petanque England has been working closely with the host club to find a solution. We are pleased to confirm that additional capacity has now been secured.

To accommodate more teams, the event will be split across two venues:

• Men’s Event – Headley (as originally planned)

• Women’s Event – BOSC site, located approximately two miles from Headley

While this expansion allows for more entries, capacity will still be limited:

• Men’s Event: Maximum of 32 teams

• Women’s Event: Maximum of 24 teams

Sport:80 will reopen tomorrow morning to accept further entries. Please note that places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis, and once capacity is reached, no additional entries can be accepted.
